Police: Montauk Man Murdered In Local Park

MONTAUK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A murder investigation is underway on Long Island after a body was found in a local park.

Police in Montauk said two people in Kirk Park found a man unconscious on a trail around 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Investigators believe the victim only entered the park a half-hour earlier before suffering severe head injuries.

He was taken to an area hospital where he later died. Police did not release the victim’s identity but said he was a Montauk resident.
