New York City Council Votes To Legalize E-Bikes, E-Scooters

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — It’s about to get easier to get around the city.

The New York City Council voted to legalize e-bikes and e-scooters Thursday.

The bill allows both to operate through the city’s five boroughs.

Top speeds for e-bikes will be 25 mph and 20 for e-scooters.

The bill also calls for the development of a shared e-scooter pilot program similar to Citi Bike.
