NYPD Officer Struck And Killed While Directing Traffic On Long Island Expressway
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — An NYPD officer was struck and killed overnight while directing traffic on the Long Island Expressway.
It happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday in Fresh Meadows, Queens.
Police said he officer was directing traffic while others handled a previous crash near Francis Lewis Boulevard.

The vehicle that struck the officer reportedly did not stop at the scene, but was pulled over a short time later and a woman was taken into custody.
The officer was taken to New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he died a few hours later.
Eastbound lanes of the LIE are closed at exit 25.
